COMPOSITION WITH WOOD, METAL FENCE AND PLASTIC BAG

 

 

Καθημερινά αντικείμενα, γλυπτά και αμφορείς, αρχιτεκτονικές λεπτομέρειες, ημερομηνίες, τόποι και αναφορές συνθέτουν τα έργα αυτά ή κατ’ ακρίβεια τις αναπαραστάσεις τους. Τυπωμένες σε χαρτί οι εικόνες αυτές -οι οποίες προέρχονται από διάφορες πηγές και εποχές όπως περιοδικά, μπροσούρες, βιβλία τέχνης, αρχεία μουσείων καθώς, επίσης, και από φωτογραφίες εκ του φυσικού- εφαρμόζονται σε επίπεδες επιφάνειες φτιαγμένες από μπετόν και πολυστερίνη. Μερικές από αυτές τις κατασκευές στέκονται ελεύθερα, ενώ κάποιες άλλες ισορροπούν μεταξύ τους ή ακουμπούν στους τοίχους φλερτάροντας με το αρχιτεκτονικό τοπίο. Μια μεγάλη αναπαράσταση σε επίπεδη προοπτική. 

Πολλά χρόνια ιστορίας, υλικών και τεχνικής, αναφορών και συμβολισμών δε θέλουν να αφηγηθούν μια κατανοητή ιστορία και να αποδώσουν νόημα. Ξεφεύγουν των ορίων τους το κάθε ένα ξεχωριστά και φτιάχνουν κάτι καινούργιο, έχοντας σαν μόνο λόγο σύνδεσής τους την αισθητική τους πρόθεση.

Η ραφινάτη επεξεργασία των εικόνων, ο φορμαλιστικός τρόπος προσέγγισης των υλικών που αναπαριστούν, η απόμακρη και αποστασιοποιημένη προσέγγιση από το αντικείμενο το ίδιο, λόγω αναπαράστασης, δημιουργούν ένα αφηρημένο αποτέλεσμα. Τα σύνορα της τρισδιάστατης εικόνας και του επίπεδου όγκου χάνονται κάπου μεταξύ παρόντος και παρελθόντος, ανώνυμου και επώνυμου, πραγματικότητας και μυθοπλασίας.

Everyday objects, sculptures and amphorae, architectural details, dates, places and references compose this work- to be exact: their representations- printed on paper, those images -coming from various eras and sources, such as magazines, brochures, art books, museum archives, as well as natural photographs- are applied on flat surfaces, made of concrete and polystyrene. Some of these constructions stand alone freely; others balance on each other or lean on the walls, flirting with the architectural landscape. A big representation with a flat perspective.

History, materials and techniques, references and symbolisms, do not make a coherent whole nor do they intend to narrate a meaningful story. Each one escapes from its boundaries and makes something new, their only thing in common being their aesthetic intention.

The sophisticated processing of the images co-exists with the formalist manner of the materials’ approach they represent, in combination with the aloofness and distance -caused by the aspect of representation- of the approach, from the object itself, contribute to an abstract result. The borders separating the three-dimensional image and the flat volume are lost somewhere between the present and the past, between popularity and anonymity between reality and fiction.
